Running a business during coronavirus

How to use this abundance of time to cultivate new ideas

Share

You can literally take this time to change your life.

If you’re not a nurse, doctor, grocery store clerk or anyone else that’s supporting the human race (THANK YOU!!), then you’ve been gifted an abundance of time, the most precious gift of all, and you can actually come out of lockdown a different person rather than going back to a job/life you’re less than satisfied with.

Here’s the skinny people, you know that thing that’s been in your heart for a while that sometimes creeps it’s way to the back of your mind until you push it back down with your, “There’s not enough time… I don’t know where to start… what if it doesn’t work…”

Now is the time (!!) more than ever to use the high-vibe energy of the universe to cultivate your creativity and bring your ideas to life.

Let me say it again for the people in the back: YOU CAN LITERALLY TAKE THIS TIME TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

When is the next time life you’ll get this much “free time”?

Your excuses have no backbone anymore – the abundance of time, the universe’s energy, endless resources online – can all be used as your disposable to bring that “thing” to life.

Here are some of my tips to make it happen:

01. Establish a morning routine

Rolling over and picking up your laptop and then dragging yourself to the couch 2 hours later… it ain’t cute and it’s unproductive AF. Start your day with at least 30 minutes to an hour of doing something you love that doesn’t include scrolling through Instagram and going into low key panic mode about being stuck at home for the next few months (guilty).

02. Get dressed & brush your teeth

It’s not Sunday everyday, I see you in your robe until 3 pm without brushing your teeth or washing your face. When you don’t take care of yourself, your morale is low and it’s easy to stay in that low-vibe for the rest of the day. After your morning routine, shower, wash yo face and build your confidence to get shit done.

03. Take time to create, dream & plan away from your digitals

That thing you’ve been dreaming about, use this extra time (after you’ve done your day job) and visualize what this dream looks like. Make a mood board out of magazine, meditate, sketch it out and write in your journal. When you’re in your own imagination without the distraction of outside opinion, you’re most authentic and concentrated. This is where the fun and creativity happens!

04. Put it into action

Write down your dream/goal and then figure out what the first 5 steps you need to take to make that happen. They can be so small – the smallest, simplest tasks, but that’s what is going to move you forward.

Other random WFH tips: Have a designated workspace (couch doesn’t count), put your phone in a different room, do the hardest task first, forget what everyone else is doing.

If you read this and feel like I was reading your mind, it’s because I’ve been in this position before. For the past 3 years I’ve been working from home, and it’s taken me all of these 3 years (and counting) to figure out how to be the most productive and creative being I can. In order for me to start my business, I had to quit my day job and live off of (barely any) savings in order to make it happen. If I was given this gift of extra time to work from home without stressing too much about money and getting to dream and make plans for my future, it would have been a huge game changer. So, I’m speaking from experience to help you get ahead of the game because I really do believe you can change your life.

You’ve been given the gift of time, so choose what you’re going to fill with it wisely. Now is your time to use the positive energies of the universe and channel the vision that’s already in your heart.
