Every business owner wants to hit that first $100K, right? In full transparency, last year was my 2nd full year in business and the first year I hit that coveted 6-figure mark as an entrepreneur.
So in this episode, I’m sharing the six things I did last year that I directly correlate to more than doubling my revenue. If I can do it, you can do it!
The Good: I’m back from Bali and feeling so creative and energized.
The Bad: I think I might have gotten “Bali Belly” or food poisoning while I was on my flight home. It was terrible.
The Woo-Woo: I started drinking a morning elixir every day with fresh-squeezed lemons, turmeric, apple cider vinegar with cinnamon and warm water. It’s been an awesome part of my morning routine.
NICHE DOWN:I rebranded to Current Design Studio last year and positioned myself as an expert by solely working with entrepreneurs, coaches, fitness personalities, and nutritionists in the health & wellness space. Separating myself from the sea of all the other graphic and web designers out there allowed me to raise my prices. What is your “it” factor? This is what will set you apart from competitors.
FOCUS ON ONE HIGH-TICKET PACKAGE: My first year in business, I was doing #allthethings. You name it, I did it. Logos, marketing collateral, business cards, etc. The second someone comes into contact with you or your website, you want them to know what it is you specialize in, and that’s hard to do when you do too many things. Eliminate the fluff and focus on one or two high-ticket offers. You could even raise your rates in the process (I increased mine by 20%).
KNOW YOUR NUMBERS AND IMPLEMENT SYSTEMS: Want to more than double your revenue? This is the tip you want to pay close attention to. Ask yourself this: “If I want to hit $100K in my business this year, how many packages do I need to sell? How many clients do I need to get?” Make the decision that it’s going to be a $100K year, know that it’s possible, and then put in the work.
YOU NEED A BUSINESS COACH: You need to make an investment in your business if you want to scale, and last year, I learned that there are so many unexpected perks of investing in high-level business coaches and masterminds. I spent almost $20,000 in coaching and can’t even begin to tell you how much it was worth it. A business coach will help you with your strategy, roadmap, and marketing. My best tip on how to choose the right one? Find a coach that has a business model you admire and are inspired by. If they’ve walked the walk, they can show you how to do it too.
OUTSOURCE TO SCALE YOUR BUSINESS: You’re one person, and all of your energy should be going towards your zone of genius. Take a few days and write down everything that you do inside your business. Imagine the time you could get back in your day if you outsourced even 5 or 10 hours a week of different tasks. Could you outsource meal delivery, or hire a personal trainer, or even take Ubers to meetings so you can prep in the car?
NEVER STOP LEARNING: I made the decision to uplevel my SEO and Instagram skills, so I bought a course in each of those subjects. What areas of your business could you learn a thing or two about? Are there any conferences, workshops, or networking events you could invest in? I read somewhere that the average millionaire reads two books a month, so I read 25 books in 2019. Never stop learning!
